Based in New York, Gosset will provide counsel to PR Newswire's feature news clients, oversee the further development of the service and conduct client workshops and staff training, according to Fred Ferguson, director of the Feature News Service.

"Today, there is a bigger demand for feature news than ever before," Gosset said. "With all the negative news that's being covered, consumers are demanding more stories on health and wellness, food, fitness and home entertainment, among other things. I am very pleased to join this team."

Because of the increased demand for feature news, Ferguson said Gosset will be instrumental in consulting with clients on feature news release style such as writing for verbatim publication on Web sites and in print, while also serving broadcasters' needs. Furthermore, with Gosset's guidance, clients can leverage the various new interactive marketing and measurement services offered through PR Newswire, all while tracking the results of their feature news release.

"It always pays to have a former journalist advising clients on what the media wants, and Steve's wisdom and years of experience working in all news mediums -- print and broadcast -- will significantly benefit our clients," Ferguson said. With Gosset's expertise, PR Newswire's clients will see significant improvements in their media tracking reports, according to Ferguson.

For the past seven years, Gosset worked as an editor and reporter at CBS Radio Network. As a field producer, he covered major national news stories and special events such as the John Glenn shuttle launch, the Monica Lewinsky testimony and the New Hampshire primary. Gosset received the 2001 Writers Guild of America award for outstanding radio news script and a 2003 Writers Guild of America award for a radio commentary written for Dan Rather.

Gosset's wire service and newspaper experience includes jobs with the UPI Albany, N.Y. bureau; The Syracuse (N.Y.) Herald-Journal; The Journal-News, West Nyack, N.Y.; and The Record, Hackensack, N.J. He was a disc jockey and news anchor on radio stations early in his career and also is a freelance magazine writer. Gosset has a B.A. in political science, an M.A. in journalism and a J.D. in law.

PR Newswire's Feature News Service promotion and sales development programs will continue to be handled by Angela Mendola, industry manager.
