NEW YORK

PR Newswire's MEDIAtlas™ database (formerly known as Online MEDIAtlas), the largest online global media database containing information on more than 475,000 journalists worldwide, now offers new features that will ease navigation and increase usability, the company announced today. The enhanced MEDIAtlas database now features a three-tier search screen, a thesaurus that matches common words to keyword searches, and state and county search options, as well as activity reminders, customized reports, and the newly developed MEDIAtlas Recycle Bin.

Designed to enable users to more efficiently develop sophisticated media lists, the MEDIAtlas database's three-tiered search function offers the ability to perform Quick and Advanced searches or utilize the Coverage Wizard, an electronic intelligence tool that helps to locate the most appropriate journalist at each outlet. Quick searches are ideal for targeting specific journalists or publications. The Advanced search provides the most commonly used fields for building media lists plus access to over 100 additional fields, while the Coverage Wizard builds upon both of these options to allow users to include up to three editorial beats per search to maximize their ability to find the best matches at each outlet. Further, the MEDIAtlas database now features a subject thesaurus that links keyword search terms entered by the user to other related words for nearly 1,500 subjects (for example: inputting wireless as a search term will link to other wireless- related subjects such as mobile communications), while simultaneously searching on multiple information fields for selected criteria.

In addition to improved list development capabilities, the enhanced MEDIAtlas database allows users to set activity reminders, create, export and share media reports, and, through a Recycle Bin feature, safeguard against accidental deletions.

"The MEDIAtlas database's breadth and depth of content combined with enhanced usability and functionality provides users with a time-saving, cost effective global media contact management system," said Ken Dowell, managing director, Targeting/Monitoring services for PR Newswire. "Many of our clients rely on the MEDIAtlas database not only to create targeted media lists, but also to research reporters, manage PR activities and distribute news releases. MEDIAtlas is more than a database - it's a fully comprehensive PR tool."
