PR Newswire's eWatch™ monitoring service has upgraded its Web Pubs service by adding hundreds of the most influential and visited blogs on the Internet, it was announced today. This enhancement follows the recent addition in February of more than 10,000 print sources to eWatch™ and marks a significant evolution of the service from Internet to print and now blog monitoring.

Through daily alerts and weekly summaries, customers are able to monitor blog content from the same eWatch™ interface they rely on for monitoring print and online news sources. eWatch™ will monitor blogs run by credentialed journalists and influential bloggers in industries such as technology, consumer products, healthcare and politics. Customers will also be able to modify their search criteria and request that new blogs be added to the service to ensure quality and inclusiveness of their results. The inclusion of blogs in eWatch™ is being offered at no additional cost.

"The quality and influence of blogs has increased tremendously in the past several years and monitoring them is a must for everyone who wants to stay on top of the news," said Nancy Sells, vice president, Media Intelligence Products, PR Newswire. "By adding blog content to our monitoring services we are responding to our customers' needs by providing the most complete monitoring for their businesses. The ability to request additional blog sources is an additional time-saver for our busy clients and helps to ensure comprehensive and precise results."

Blogs, or web logs, are online publications of personal opinions and often contain complementing Web links. Numerous leading media professionals and companies feature their own blogs commenting on industry news, products and services, trends, rumors and more. The number of blogs has skyrocketed due to easy-to-use blog technology and the uncensored nature of the Internet, and many have been the impetus behind breaking recent high-profile news.

PR Newswire's eWatch™ monitoring service pioneered Internet monitoring more than a decade ago and has remained the industry leader as PR Newswire has continually added new functionality to assist organizations in their efforts to find out where and how their company, products, executives or competition are being cited by the media. eWatch™ currently scans more than 10,000 print sources, nearly 10,000 web publications, hundreds of thousands of public discussion messages from bulletin boards, UseNet groups and e-mail discussion groups based upon customized search criteria.
