The new feeds provide the media, general public and investors a means to receive news releases covering specific industries and subjects based upon their own interests and delivered directly to their RSS readers on their desktop. PR Newswire's public Web site, http://www.prnewswire.com/, and media-only Web site, PR Newswire for Journalists, www.prnewswire.com/media, now host more than 125 new RSS feeds in English. In addition, all news releases distributed in French, Spanish and German are available on PR Newswire for Journalists in RSS feeds organized by the same industries and topics, totaling more than 500 categorized feeds available to the media.

As RSS technology becomes more mainstream, PR Newswire's new categorized feeds will help to meet the increased demand for more customized information, according to David B. Armon, chief operating officer, PR Newswire.

"PR Newswire was the first major commercial newswire to create RSS feeds," said Armon. "Today we have significantly increased the value of these feeds by making them available in hundreds of categories -from auto to policy, earnings to IPOs and even podcasts - and providing them in multiple languages. Visitors to our Web sites can combine our RSS feeds with their own RSS readers' settings to create even more personalized news. This is one more reason customers can be confident that we deliver their content in the formats the media and their other audiences desire, giving their news a greater chance of pickup and usage."

PR Newswire's RSS feeds can be found on http://www.prnewswire.com/rss/ or by logging on to PR Newswire's home page, http://www.prnewswire.com/, and clicking the RSS tab. Media wishing to incorporate these feeds into their regular news aggregation process can access them from PR Newswire's password- protected media Web site, PR Newswire for Journalists, www.prnewswire.com/media, which also offers categorized news release delivery via email. Registration and use is free to the media.

RSS, also known as Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary, or RDF Site Summary, is an XML-based format that allows users to pull content from Web sites and weblogs for delivery via feeds, streams or channels. End-users rely on desktop software, called RSS readers, or online news aggregators to gather the content based upon specific criteria. RSS has helped to simplify the news gathering process by automatically updating users to the availability of news and information.
