PR Newswire today announced numerous enhancements to its popular Search Engine Visibility (SEV) service used by thousands of customers to optimize news releases for better retrieval in search engines.

The enhancements to SEV build upon the service which was created through a partnership established in April 2004 with PR Newswire and iCrossing, the largest independent search engine marketing agency.

The upgrades to SEV include new reporting features, a new graph and new report functionality. Users of SEV will now be able to view aggregated cumulative results including totals on the number of views, click-throughs from embedded URLs and click-through percentages for all their optimized news releases. They will also benefit from a new graph depicting the total number of views of the news release generated by each keyword used by Web searchers. This new information as well as the original information provided through SEV reports are now available for download as PDF and RTF documents.

"Since PR Newswire launched SEV in April 2004, it has become an increasingly important tool for communications professionals," said Sarah Skerik, PR Newswire's vice president of distribution services. "Not only does SEV assist communicators in providing their message directly to the consumers who are most likely to act upon it, but it also provides qualitative and quantitative benchmarking results which allows savvy communicators to gauge and increase the effectiveness of their communications."

PR Newswire remains the only major commercial newswire offering news release optimization services. By teaming with iCrossing, all news releases treated with SEV have a longer shelf life -- from a few days to six months or more -- and show up higher in search results on leading search engines.

SEV provides reports that give customers the ability to see exactly what keyword and keyword combinations Web users use to arrive at customers' news releases. These reports, generated by iCrossing, have assisted customers in tailoring future messages by providing relevant feedback on the most-used keywords by Web users viewing the news release. Customers can also see how many times news release readers took the next step and "clicked-through" to the customer web site from a URL embedded in the news release.

SEV is included with all PR Newswire premium products, including the entire family of US1 newslines.
