Through video podcasting, MultiVu is now indexing video content it produces on behalf of organizations in Apple's iTunes®. MultiVu's customers will benefit from having their video content indexed as individual podcasts and as part of MultiVu's general news podcast on iTunes.

"Our customers are always looking for new ways to reach their consumers directly," said Tim Bahr, president of MultiVu. "MultiVu's audio and video podcasts are one more step in that direction and will become a powerful new communications channel for marketing and communications professionals."

MultiVu's video podcasting will enable organizations in all types of industries -- entertainment, healthcare, financial services, consumer goods, automobile and others -- to reach new, self-selecting consumer audiences directly with video content that is relevant to them.

Organizations that wish to take advantage of video podcasting as a new communications channel can use pre-existing video content or work with MultiVu to create new content tailored to this medium. MultiVu will then produce the podcast and provide the RSS feed and downloadable URL to the customer for their own targeted distribution. In addition, MultiVu will send out a Podcast Notification Release over PR Newswire's national newsline -- reaching thousands of websites and thousands of media points -- each time it launches a customer's new podcast.

MultiVu's customers' podcasts will also be posted under the Video section of PR Newswire's media-only website, PR Newswire for Journalists, http://www.prnewswire.com/media where more than 80,000 registered journalists can access it, and under the Multimedia section on http://www.prnewswire.com/ which receives nearly 1 million visitors per month. The MultiVu general audio news podcast is also available under the RSS section of both PR Newswire for Journalists and PR Newswire's public website.

Once MultiVu has distributed a customer's podcast, the customer will receive monitoring reports detailing the number of downloads of the content and the number of media that have accessed the podcast from PR Newswire for Journalists.

Podcasting is a method of content distribution that relies upon RSS, Really Simple Syndication, an XML-based format, to deliver MP3 audio and video files. Users can subscribe to podcast "feeds" through their RSS "readers" or through Apple's iTunes database. In addition to iPods, podcasts can be listened to and viewed via a computer with audio and video capabilities or most other .mp3 players with Internet connectivity. Users are automatically updated each time new content is available in a podcast to which they have subscribed.

According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project Report (April 2005), more than 22 million Americans own iPods or MP3 players, and more than 6 million adults have downloaded a podcast of some type.

To subscribe to MultiVu's video podcast on iTunes, place this URL -- http://feeds.feedburner.com/MultivuVNR -- in the 'Subscribe to Podcast' section within the latest version of iTunes® 6.0. The podcasts are also posted on PR Newswire's public website, http://www.prnewswire.com/.

MultiVu's audio podcasts, which launched in August, can also be found on iTunes by putting this URL -- http://feeds.feedburner.com/MultiVu -- into the 'Subscribe to Podcast' section. It is also accessible via PR Newswire for Journalists, http://www.prnewswire.com/media, and PR Newswire's public website, http://www.prnewswire.com/.
