Since PR Newswire began monitoring blogs in May 2005, the company has steadily increased the number by listening to customer feedback and researching blogs that are considered the most influential across all industries. More than 3,000 blogs -- including those closely aligned to Web publications and those with a high number of links -- are now included in eWatch and US1 Media Monitoring.

"Blogs are an important part of the strategic communications programs of our customers," said Dave Armon, chief operating officer, PR Newswire. "It's our objective to help facilitate the way in which our customers interact with blogs -- from distributing news to bloggers via RSS to monitoring which blogs are discussing customers' news and other issues of relevance."

eWatch, PR Newswire's leading Internet monitoring service, enables customers to monitor blogs run by credentialed journalists and influential bloggers in industries such as technology, consumer products, healthcare and politics. Reports are delivered through daily alerts and weekly summaries via the same interface customers rely on for monitoring print and online news sources. Additional blogs are frequently added to the service at the request of customers.

Blog monitoring is also available through PR Newswire's US1 Media Monitoring service, powered by eWatch. This service allows communications professionals to monitor the 3000+ blogs, in addition to more than 13,000 online publications including those of daily, weekly and broadcast media outlets such as The New York Times, Crain's Chicago Business and ABC News, for pick-up of their news release, immediately after it is issued and for 30 days following.

PR Newswire's eWatch monitoring service pioneered Internet monitoring more than a decade ago and has remained the industry leader as PR Newswire has continually added new functionality to assist organizations in their efforts to find out where and how their company, products, executives or competition are being cited by the media. eWatch currently scans more than 10,000 print sources, over 16,000 web publications, hundreds of thousands of public discussion messages from bulletin boards, UseNet groups and e-mail discussion groups based upon customized search criteria.

PR Newswire is dedicated to researching additional ways in which blog strategies can be incorporated into all its distribution, targeting, monitoring/measurement and broadcast PR services.
