PRSA/NJ Goes International With Top Speakers For Global Public Relations Program

Public relations agencies are increasingly asked to reach audiences outside the U.S. as part of their routine media outreach. Metro area practitioners are invited to learn more about global public relations at a September 20 breakfast meeting hosted by the Public Relations Society of America, New Jersey Chapter (PRSA/NJ), "International PR with a New Jersey Flavor: How Garden State Practitioners Can Deliver Their Message Worldwide." The session will be held in cooperation with the Corporate Communication Institute (CCI) at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Florham-Madison, N.J. campus, Hartman Lounge, The Mansion. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:45 a.m. The program runs from 8:30-9:30 a.m., followed by a Q&A.

The roster of expert speakers is headed by Toni Muzi Falconi, Methodos spa, an internationally recognized leader of public relations in Europe. Founder of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management, he is currently a guest professor of Global Relations and Intercultural Communication at New York University. Falconi will speak about cultural differences and the global public relations community.

Sheila Norman-Culp, Associated Press, will give the media viewpoint and advise on pitching wire services and bureaus outside the U.S. Norman-Culp has worked for The AP for 24 years, including 10 years on AP's foreign desk, and now oversees the company's six main desks.

Anju Khanna, Global Account Manager for PR Newswire, will describe the evolving media landscape in Europe and Asia and offer "Top 10 Dos and Don'ts for Communicating Abroad." Khanna, who has lived in Sweden, India, the UK and now New York, most recently headed PR Newswire Sales for Europe, where she advised PR and IR professionals on international campaigns.

Dawn Kelly, Vice President, Global Communications, Prudential Financial, will discuss how a New Jersey-based company manages international public relations. Kelly has special expertise in both business and corporate citizenship communications.

The session will be moderated by Susan Youdovin, B&Y Communications, a New Jersey-based public relations firm specializing in healthcare, corporate and nonprofit communications.
