As part of its 2007 Charitable Giving Program, 'Doing Well by Doing Good', PR Newswire employees select a charity located in an area in which the company has substantial operations for which they will volunteer as a group and to which the company will make a cash donation. Starlight MidAtlantic, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities, has benefited from the volunteer efforts of local PR Newswire staff.

"Volunteers are so important to the work we do at Starlight MidAtlantic," Tina McCormack, director of communications, Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation-MidAtlantic. "PR Newswire's staff have been so gracious with their time, and the company's generous grant will help us to continue providing children and their families the support they need to endure this difficult time."

To date, local PR Newswire staff have volunteered for Starlight MidAtlantic events in the pediatrics unit of the Children's National Medical Center including a day of 'Back-to-School crafts' and a Halloween celebration.

"It has been an extremely rewarding experience for all of the staff members who have volunteered," said Ginny Willcox, account manager and charitable giving advocate, PR Newswire. "The children we have been able to spend time with are fantastic and we have a great time with them."

"As a company with global operations and staff working in cities all around the world, it's important to us to give back to the community in which we work," said Charles Gregson, chief executive officer, PR Newswire. "We found through researching our program that as much as charities are seeking financial assistance, they are also extremely interested in finding dedicated volunteers. With this knowledge we designed a program that gave our staff a voice in the charity selection in order to maximize the volunteer participation. Starlight MidAtlantic is an extraordinarily worthy charity and we are very pleased to be able to assist them in this way."

PR Newswire provides assistance to non-profit organizations in a number of different ways including through direct grants, volunteerism, in-kind donations and sponsorships. PR Newswire also matches employee fundraising, volunteering and individual donations.
