The panel will discuss insights, tactics and emerging trends for multicultural marketing. Gato will speak specifically to the issues of in-culture versus in-language strategies to engage Hispanics, parallels between Hispanic-American and African-American consumer segments and their cultural nuances, online strategies for engaging U.S. Hispanics, and the power of local online media to engage U.S. Hispanics.

"As marketers compete for consumer share-of-heart and share-of-mind, some of the key new battlegrounds are the multicultural and online segments," said Mr. Gato. "The terrain is complex, and sophisticated marketers recognize that specific strategies and tactics are needed to effectively engage the different cultural groups that are important to attracting new customers." By sharing ideas with key multicultural experts, marketers can make better choices to build their brands and ensure that the company remains relevant in the years ahead."

The panel will be moderated by Michaela Angela Davis, a writer and social critic for VH-1, BET and Vibe. In addition to Mr. Gato, the panel includes: Jojo Brim, president, couture music/exec producer, Warner Music Group, Office of Kevin Liles; Tariq Muhammad, director, AOL Black Voices; Roslyn L. Patterson, vice president, group accounts director, Uniworld Group; and Eric Shorter, director, Malbon Bros. Farm, an independent multicultural agency. Participants can register for the event at: http://www.212nyc.org/events/1381.cfm.

Hispanics are both the fastest-growing demographic in the United States, and the fastest-growing online segment. By 2020, one out of every six people living in the U.S. will be of Hispanic descent; and by 2050, one out of every four people living in the U.S. will be of Hispanic descent. According to eMarketer, there are now 24.6 million U.S. Hispanics on the Internet, and by 2012, the number of U.S. Hispanics online will reach 29.4 million.

Bill Gato is a Founding Partner of Hispanic Digital Network (HDN), the nation's first and largest Hispanic online advertising network of local media. In January 2008, HDN was acquired by PR Newswire, the global leader in text and multimedia news distribution services. Gato's professional communications career spans more than 16 years in print journalism, Hispanic radio, advertising and Internet marketing.
